SiteFeed Takeoff on iPad: a PDF site plan with a green measured area. One area is selected and has a hatched cut-out; the panel at the bottom reads Gross 46.40 m², Cut-outs −4.59 m², Net 41.80 m². The left sidebar shows Select, Calibrate and Cut-out, the Reuse tool and Snap switches, and the Length, Perimeter, Area and Count tools. The top bar shows Page 1 of 7 and a calibrated 1:100 badge.

Built on the tools

SiteFeed Takeoff started with a working plasterer who wanted a quicker way to measure drawings on an iPad.

The big professional PDF packages are powerful. But most of what they do isn't needed for everyday trade estimating, and they're built for a desk, not for an evening between site days.

So this does the part that matters: an accurate scale, accurate measurements, clear quantities and simple pricing. Open the drawing, measure it, price it, send it. Then get back to work.

Built by a tradesman, for people pricing real work.

What it does

Everything you need to price from a drawing. Nothing you don't.

Measure

Measure directly from PDF drawings

Open the architect's PDF and measure on it. Walls, ceilings, floors, beads, openings: tap the points and the quantity appears on the drawing.

Every point is stored against the drawing itself, not the screen. Zoom in, zoom out, come back tomorrow: your measurements stay exactly where you put them.

Close-up of a site plan in the app. A green area over the living, dining and kitchen reads 91.84 m². A second area over a courtyard is selected with blue corner handles and reads Net 41.80 m², with a hatched cut-out labelled −4.59 m².

Scale

Accurate manual calibration

If the drawing says 5 metres, calibrate against it and measure from there.

Tap both ends of a dimension you know, type the real length in mm or m, and that page is set. The app shows the implied paper scale, such as ≈ 1:100, so you can check it against the title block. Got a set drawn at the same scale? Copy the calibration to the other pages.

There's no automatic scale guessing. You set the scale from the drawing, so you know exactly where it came from.

Snapping

Intelligent PDF snapping

Turn on Snap and points lock onto the real linework in the PDF: wall corners, line ends and edges. A small magenta marker shows exactly where the point will land before you commit it.

It's careful. When two lines are too close to tell which one you meant, it doesn't guess. It leaves your point where you put it.

Helpful when you want it. Invisible when you don't.

Works on drawings with vector linework (most CAD-exported PDFs). Scanned drawings measure as normal, they just don't snap.

Openings

Gross, openings and net

Draw the wall or ceiling, then cut out the windows, doors and voids. The app keeps all three numbers: Gross, Cut-outs and Net.

You see what came off and why, and you can price on gross or net, whichever the job calls for.

Example: a wall with a window and a door (illustration)

The app's selection panel for an area on page 1 with 4 points. It reads Gross 46.40 m², Cut-outs −4.59 m² and Net 41.80 m², with buttons for Change tool, Add cut-out, Cut-outs (1) and Delete.

Tools

Reusable tools, set up your way

Make a tool for each thing you price, like Plasterboard, Render or Skim to ceilings. Give each one a name, a colour, a fill style and opacity, and a default price.

Group them in toolboxes and they're ready on every job. Turn on Reuse tool and it stays armed, so you can measure room after room without reselecting it.

Each tool keeps

  • Name
  • Type: Length, Perimeter, Area or Count
  • Line colour and thickness
  • Fill colour and opacity
  • Marker shape (Count)
  • Default rate

Pricing

Measure and price in the same place

Set a rate per tool: £/m², £/lm or £/item. Turn a length or perimeter into an area with a height, which is handy for walls. See totals for the current page or the whole set.

  • Workings on every line
  • Areas priced on gross or net, with the other shown for comparison
  • Rates can be saved as tool defaults for the next job
The app's £ Pricing panel for page 1. Skirting: 102.33 lm × £15.00/lm, £1,534.93. Floor Area: Gross 94.18 m², £2,119.13, ticked; Cut-outs −0.87 m²; Net 93.32 m², £2,099.64, shown for information; Priced on GROSS. Doors / Items: 15 No. × £50.00/item, £750.00. Page 1 price / estimate: £4,404.06.

Prices are worked out from the quantities. Changing a rate never changes a measurement.

Exports

Clear exports

Export a marked-up PDF you can send to a client or contractor, plus a CSV for Numbers or Excel.

  • Drawing pages with your markup
  • Quantity summary per tool
  • Gross, cut-outs and net for areas
  • Calibration record for each page
  • Optional estimate, on the summary pages only

Your original PDF is never changed.

Projects

Works as a project, not a flattened PDF

Come back next week, change an area, add another item or amend the price. The measurements remain editable.

Drag any corner to adjust it. Undo and redo cover everything. Projects save as you go and reopen where you left off.

Your data

Local-first

The current version keeps your drawings and projects on your iPad. There's no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

When you want a copy somewhere else, export a project backup to Files and keep it wherever you like.

Focused on purpose

Simple doesn't mean limited

Accurate where it matters. Simple where it should be.

You probably don't need a hundred markup tools to price a plastering job. You need the drawing to scale properly, your measurements to be accurate, and your quantities to add up.

SiteFeed Takeoff is deliberately focused, not basic. It does the measuring and pricing properly, without the complexity of enterprise takeoff software.

Who it's for

  • Sole traders
  • Small builders
  • Plasterers & renderers
